IC INFO

Name: Silver the Hedgehog
Canon: Sonic the Hedgehog (games)
Character History: Here! Silver comes from a vague “bad future” that he frequently goes back in time to fix.
SCP history:
- Silver has been with the Foundation for a year, working primarily out of Site 1 in Michigan, but a few months ago (about a week prior to the start of R2) was transferred to Site 2 in Canada.
- He’s been very cooperative! After all, the Foundation wants to help people, right? However, his lack of commitment to killing other agents means he remains a D-class.
- Despite that, he’s been sent on many missions, especially those concerning psychic phenomena and powerful creatures, where his psychokinetic powers shine.
- He is also sent after rogue agents — and may have killed a few. But he doesn’t remember. He is usually so upset after being ordered to kill (and succeeding) that he has to be given amnestics to make him functional again.
- They keep using him though because he’s a very effective weapon :’) Turns out being able to snap a man's neck from 50 feet away is a useful skill. And since he’s not human, he’s considered even LESS than many of the other 6350s. YAY.
- Despite having seen a LOT OF SHIT, he retains his cheer… but it has dulled somewhat, leading to moments of despair and hopelessness.
- Due to his powers, Silver is very resistant to magical and psychic mind-altering effects… but drugs have a more potent effect on him. The Foundation has been experimenting with a drug that causes him to enter a berserk or fugue-like state. While under the effects of the drug, he is very susceptible to suggestion and following orders. However, the longer the drug effects last, the more uncontrollable he becomes. For now, a dose with an active time of an hour is considered safe.
- While not on missions, he wears a small headband with electrodes that inhibits his powers, though due to his cooperative and friendly nature, it is usually turned off. Just before being transferred to the California site, the headband was replaced by a permanent neural implant that can be remotely accessed.
- In his spare time, Silver loves to garden. There are some outdoor gardens in Michigan that were once tended by him, and there’s a room in Site 2 with gro-lights installed where he maintains an indoor vegetable and flower garden.
Personality: Silver is a good and well-meaning fluffy kid from the future whose goal is to protect his time by setting things right in the past. He wants nothing more than for people in all times to live in peace, and he’s willing to move through time and put his life at risk to do it. He describes himself as “an optimist, but also a realist”, and is known to protect those who can’t or won’t protect themselves. More than anything, though, Silver is defined by his sense of justice and his drive for fairness and peace. He is also known for his almost unfailing optimism and hope in even the most dire of situations.

While he does his best to seem serious and cool, Silver is actually quite naive, insecure, and immature, and feels emotions (both positive and negative) very strongly… and very visibly. When he’s angry, he’s a ball of rage, and when he’s happy, everyone will know his infectious cheer. He has little experience with people that would use him for their own ends, and is easily tricked and manipulated, especially in pursuit of his goals. Silver is not stupid, however — he is actually quite perceptive. He just has a bad tendency to act before he thinks. He really enjoys making friends, but can be awkward and seemingly isolated — he was a lonely kid with poor social skills and he’s still learning and growing.

He is usually very sweet and understanding, wanting to help people as much as he can. However, when he gets focused on a task, he can be very dismissive and short and downright bratty. He can also be quite violent towards those who would stand in his way — he doesn’t like to, but he absolutely will put people in their place. He has a competitive streak a mile wide as well, and is one of those people who definitely gets way too into Monopoly or Mario Kart.

His time in the Foundation has worn him down a bit, and his unfailing optimism... well, it fails sometimes. One can only take so much pressure and stress before one begins to break. However, he is still quick to regain his composure and get back to the tasks at hand, and he is devoted to the Foundation's goals of making the world a better place... by any means necessary. He knows that what the Foundation does to him (re, drugging and such) is wrong... but if it helps him be more useful, to ensure a better future, he's willing to deal with it.
Traits:
* Justice: One of Silver's defining traits, he desires fairness and peace for all, and will go to almost any lengths to do it.
* Bravery: Silver will face down any threat, regardless of danger, in order to achieve his goals. Sometimes in a foolhardy way.
* Kindness: Unfailing optimism and friendliness, Silver would give you the shirt off his back. If he wore shirts.
Suitability: Silver is pushing the line on being "morally ambiguous" enough for this round. However, in canon, he is shown to be willing to murder a stranger (Sonic the Hedgehog) at the behest of Mephiles if it meant he could save his world. If he perceives someone as evil or as a threat to his peaceful future, he will not hesitate to stop them... and if someone were to attack someone he cared about, or someone who could not protect himself, he'd definitely drop a car on them. He might regret it later and really want to forget about it, but he'd do it.
Powers:
- Psychokinesis: Silver can use the power of his brain to lift, move, and manipulate objects. His psychic abilities are quite powerful, and Silver is able to lift many times his own mass, including several large cars and even entire parts of buildings. He is strong enough to render enemies immobile, and crush and bend metal. He can also use his powers to levitate himself and fly at incredibly high speeds, rivaling Sonic the Hedgehog's running speed. Additionally, he can use the psionic energy itself as a shield or as a weapon in the form of a cutting blade or concussive pulse. He can teleport very short distances (several feet) without the use of a Chaos Emerald. Silver's psychic powers are mostly physical, and he isn't able to read minds or predict the future, but he can induce temporary vertigo in others with his abilities.
- Chaos Control: Using a chaos emerald, Silver is able to increase the distance of his teleportation to miles rather than feet, and he can use the power of at least two emeralds to move through time. With all seven, he, like the other hedgehogs, can achieve an invulnerable super state.

SAMPLES

Written sample:
The room is bright, oppressively so, and so clean it barely seems real. The room is also sparsely furnished; here’s two moderately padded chairs, and a metal table riveted to the ground with a digital recorder sitting on top. A security camera in a high corner captures the ‘action’, and there is a single door with a one-way mirror next to it. It’s all very spartan and impersonal. And Silver knows he’s been here before.

He doesn’t remember it exactly, not clearly. He can’t recall the things he’s said or done in this room. But he knows what it is for, and there’s a twisting in his stomach to match his anxiety. The hedgehog boy is still shaking a bit as the door opens and a human person wearing a Foundation-branded white coat walks in. The woman, petite and stocky with round glasses and dyed pink and purple hair, sits in the chair across from Silver and offers a surprisingly warm smile.

Yeah, Silver knows this woman. Dr. Smith — a “good cop” who often debriefed 6350’s after missions. She was a physicist, but her almost encyclopedic knowledge of popular culture and gentle demeanor made her a good fit for the job. Silver glances over her shoulder at the mirror that he can’t see through. Every good cop had to have a bad cop… and Silver isn’t interested in making him come out. The hedgehog shifts uncomfortably in his seat as the doctor looks through her notes. She looks over them and gives him another, smaller smile. She reaches over and turns on the digital recorder, and Silver sits up.

“Good morning, AG06. I can tell you’re upset, so let’s try and get this over with quickly, ok? Please state your full designation and name for the record.”

Silver clears his throat a little, and then begins. “My designation is SCP-6350-AG06, also known as Silver the Hedgehog. D-Class agent, Site 2.”

“Thank you, Silver,” Using my actual name, huh? That’s kind of nice… “Now, if you would succinctly and completely tell us, in your own words, what happened at site 16-C yesterday.”

Ah, there it is. Silver feels the knot in his gut tighten more, and he kind of wants to puke. But he takes a deep breath and steadies himself by holding onto the edge of the table.

“R-right. Well… I was resting in my room when a senior agent came to get me. He said that there was a dangerous hostage situation at a nearby site, and my powers would be helpful in ending it peacefully. Someone with portal powers brought us to the site and…”

Silver’s voice falters a bit.

“And?” the doctor prompts.

Silver closes his eyes and swallows hard. Then, he explains what happened. He wasn’t sure what he had been expecting, but one of the “Jokers” holding a researcher at gunpoint, his winged Persona blazing behind him like a dark angel, was not it. Several other D and C-classes, both native and from 6350, were hiding. A few security officers lay dead or incapacitated on the ground. The boy had a wild look in his eyes and was yelling something about how the Foundation couldn’t control them all — that he was his own person, and he wouldn’t be used any more.

“They had already tried de-escalating him… but his Persona killed several people, and that’s when they called me in,” Silver says, looking at his hands. His ears are folded and his spines are droopy.

“And what happened next?”

Silver doesn’t answer. He sits in silence, feeling the knot tighten painfully.

“Silver. We need to hear from you what happened next. Please.”

The hedgehog closes his eyes tightly, letting out a deep sighing breath.

“I… I grabbed him with my powers, I forced him to drop the gun and let the scientist go. But I couldn’t force him to dispel his Persona. He… he asked me if I wanted to do this forever, to be the Foundation’s tool. He asked if I really believed in what the Foundation does. I told him I did.”

Silver can’t forget the desperate look in the boy’s eyes, then the rage as his Persona surged toward him.

“So he attacked you with his power. What did you do?”

There is a very long pause before Silver answers — the gruesome image in his memory causing him to dissociate a bit from the here and now. The winged monster rushing him, the hate in the boy’s eyes, and the sickening crack thereafter…

“…. I crushed his skull.”

The woman doesn’t seem surprised, but she does give the hedgehog a sympathetic look.

“…… You did the right thing, Silver. He had gone rogue and was dangerous. You saved a lot of lives yesterday, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. But… about what he said. Do you still believe in what the Foundation does?”

Silver answers quickly, perhaps too quickly, “Yes. I mean… yes! Yes m’mam…. Of course I do! And I know… it had to be done… I know. I know it’s for the good of this world.”

Dr. Smith nods, writing down a few more notes. “Thank you, Silver. I know this is hard for you. You’ll find your usual cocktail waiting for you back in your room. As usual, it’s up to you if you want to take it or not. You are dismissed.”

Silver mutters some words of thanks under his breath. He hears the door unlock and takes his cue to leave. He doesn’t stop to look at the “bad cop” outside, who thankfully hadn’t been needed. Silver was a good boy. He cooperated. It was for the good of this world. The Foundation could protect it… and if he helped the Foundation, he could protect it, too. He makes a beeline back to his room.

As promised, there’s a glass of water and a small plastic cup with two blue capsules. Silver doesn’t hesitate in downing the amnestics. He crawls into bed, the terrible memory slowly fading into blissful haziness.

====

Back at the interrogation room, Dr. Smith goes over her notes with her colleague.

“His loyalty scores are still high, but they’ve been dropping recently.”

“Do you think that’s a good enough reason to recommend him for that mission?”

“It will be an interesting test, don’t you think, Dr. Smith?”

“He’s such a nice kid, Trev—“

“He’s fictional, Alice. Useful, but fictional. The higher ups need to know which of these things we can trust. I’m signing the recommendation.”

“…. Alright.”
